NAQG Quilling Conference (NAQGCON)

Oklahoma City, OK
May 31 – June 1, 2024

From the host Toni Swayze.

It was an event with weather surprises as bookends, but during the time between we were able to keep our paper dry. Old friends connected and first-time attendees made new friends. We had 57 attendees, 24 of whom were attending their first conference!

This year we had a total of 14 classes, including classes on husking, roses, framing, and realistic eyes. We even dipped our fingers into the cake decorating world by trying to quill with fondant.

Friday night I gave a one-hour challenge to those in the room, by passing out envelopes with some unusual items to quill with. At first there was a lot of uncertainty, but it gradually gave way to some excellent creativity (some pictures included).

Even though the weather prevented a number of people from doing much in the city, it seemed that everyone enjoyed themselves in a variety of ways. I invite everyone to come back and experience our great city – contact me if you want to get together and quill too!

I’m very grateful to the Oklahoma Quilling for Healing group for their assistance preparing for the conference, for those that came, and for all the great times we had together.
