new techniques. At this time we do not have a class schedule to post here. If
you think you might be interested in giving a class/workshop please contact

The 2013
NAQGCON will be in South Bend, Indiana on May 2 through May 4, 2013 at the Waterford
Estates Lodge; 52890 SR 933 North, South Bend, IN 46637. If you are
considering attending, you should reserve your room early. Remember to
mention you are reserving your room for the North American Quilling Guild Conference you can get the special room
rate. |
||||
|
The hotel is
located approximately 5 miles from the South Bend Regional Airport (SBN).
South Bend is also an easy drive from Chicago's Midway or O'Hare airports.
Coach USA buses as well as the South Shore Line train run regularly between
South Bend and Chicago daily. I would like
for everyone attending, including any guest that might accompany you, to make
and bring your own personalized ID/name tags. This year's conference theme is
"Sweet Treats" so embellish it with the sweetest quilling you can come up with. From cookies to cakes to
candy and ice cream, the sweeter the better! I will also
need class teachers. Teaching a class can consist of many things such as
something that you have done and might consider useful, or just the way that
you do something that might be different from the normal method. It could
also be a design you tried and liked the results of and would like to share
as a project for a class. Please consider teaching a class and let me know as
soon as possible if you are interested. Items donated
for a ticket drawing, auction/raffle would also be very much appreciated.
Items can range from completed projects to quilling
books, paper, tools or other crafting supplies. No donation is too great or
too small. I hope many of
you will attend what is sure to be a very "sweet" conference. In
addition to our conference workshops, competition, and raffle please consider
visiting area attractions. South Bend is home to the University of Notre
Dame, the South Bend Chocolate Company, the South Bend Museum of Art, the Snite Museum of Art, the Northern Indiana Center for
History, and the Studebaker National Museum. So mark your calendars now and
look for more information and registration forms in the next issue of Quill
America. Your host, |

The
general schedule of a NAQGCON goes something like this: |
||||
|
|
|
|||
|
|
Thursday: Most people arrive, register, receive conference
materials, greet old friends and make new friends. A hospitality room will be
available during the conference for quilling and
socializing. |
|||
|
|
Friday: All day classes, as well as setting up for the
competition, vendors, and personal displays. Friday evening we will vote on
the competition work and possibly have the raffle. |
|||
|
|
Vendors will usually set up their booths so they are
available Friday night and all day Saturday. |
|||
|
|
Saturday: Includes classes (if needed); admiring
everyone's work; giving demonstrations, as well as greeting and teaching the
public who come to see our work; also the announcement of the competition
winners. |
|||
|
Some conferences have "giveaways" and sometimes
an auction at the conference. If you plan on donating any items please
contact the hostess for this years
NAQGCON as soon as possible . Be sure to mark any items you send so she will know
which are to be used for giveaways/auction and which items are for the
competition. If you are planning to attend there is a list of forms, rules,
etc below that you will need to download, fill-out and send to your hostess. Also
if you are willing to be a greeter (to meet the public) or help in any other
way, I'm sure it would be appreciated. |
||||
|
Thanks to the generosity of our members who volunteer
their services and their expertise we are able to better educate people on
the Art of Quilling. Remember the more people who
are willing to give classes the better. It allows the NAQGCON to offer a
variety of classes and workshops at no extra charge. Don't forget to pack
your own quilling tools, glue, scissor etc (they
can travel in your checked luggage). You will need extra paper to try out all
of the new things you will see and learn. |
